Pastors

Marcel CordosI was born on the 6 th of August 1961, in a village at the border with Hungary, forgoten by the comunists but not by God. My parents dedicated me to the Lord as I came into this world. I spent the first six years of my life on the muddy roads of that village and then I moved to Arad, the capital city of the county. There I started school and I continued to go to church until age 10. Then I quit going to church for the soccer fields being addicted to sports and other sins. Satan brought my way a young guy who experiemented on me, teaching me his bad thoughts and hidden sins. This brought shame and guilt into my life which consumed my energy and my soul. I lived with shame, guilt and fear for seven years, trying to break the chains myself, but I couldn’t.
I was avoiding christians but I coudn’t avoid God, especially His love which He made me aware of. I started crying for his mercy, admiting that I deserve hell. He heard my cry and saved me when I was seventeen. Satan fought desperately to maintain my dirty thinking and a guilty conscience but he couldn’t because of the blood of Jesus and of the renewing of my mind through the Word which was replacing my bad thoughs. In 1978 I graduated from High School and beetwen 1978- 1980 I was in the army. In March 1983 I married my dear wife Angela who has proved to be my best friend and helper. She has supported me a lot, not only when I was in the Seminary ( 1984-1988, beeing forced to stay at home, due to the communist regime), but throughout my whole life and ministry. In that period God was preparing her for our calling at home as I was preparing myself in Bucharest 450 miles away from her. And though this is not a normal situation God allowed to happen in our lives and prepared us for the ministry in spite of the comunist oposition. In the meantime, our family was completed with each of our four children who are a real blessing from the Lord: Naomi, Samy, Teofil and Teodora. In 1988 I graduated from The Baptist Seminary in Bucharest and we felt the call to move in Alba Iulia, a city in the center of Romania. Though the challenge was so high to me, because of the large number of the believers at that time, 500, I can testify to the faithfulness of Him who calls. He has blessed my ministry the past 18 years in Alba Iulia THROUGH HIS GRACE and the teamwork of the leadership and the whole church. We planted Catatea church in Alba Iulia and now the total number of baptist believers in the two churches has more than doubled. God has also helped us to make important steps in the local, national and foreign missions as you can see in our page about our church mission.. I consider myself blessed to serve at Cetatea Church in Alba Iulia and I pray and work along side all the church to be a blessing for our city, country and for the ends of the Earth. May God help us. To Him be the glory forever.
